Friends of Mine~

Today, I am blogging about some very special people.
I should explain first that, having been in the design business for more than 20 years,
I have met and worked with lots of people. Some nicer than others!
Almost five years ago, I landed in a job with a home decor and gift store, as a merchandiser.
Merchandizing is a art form that needs constant renewal. I love the new challenge every day.
But, this blog is not about all the cool things that I get to play with at work!
It is about some very special "women" that I have gotten to know and love along with this job.
Strong, smart, pretty, opininated, spirited, loving, stubborn, did I say "pretty", some times needy, hardworking, caring, hopeful, pioneering, the list goes on and on.......................
grandmothers, teachers, mothers, wives, aunts, sisters, daughters, pet-lovers, care-givers and even beauty queens.
But, all those titles do not compare to the friendships that have been founded and nurtured, by this
group of fabulous "women" human beings.
Each carrying their own strengths and weaknesses that gives them their own special charm.
Times are changing in the world and not all for the good.
I am hoping that we each find our paths and that we will remain friends as we continue the journey. Thank you.

Edward~

This blogging is fun! Tracy has so many nice blogger friends/followers who have come to visit my
blog and commented about my love of animals. Thank you. You are all very cool.
Big A, how is your blog coming?? Bags, I'm seriously anxious to see yours too!

On a serious note!!!!!!!!!
But, I am still "pining" over something totally trivial and unimportant!
A friend, suggested that I start reading a series of 4 books called the "Twilight Saga"
I did start reading the first one a few months ago, then the second, then the third and when I
finished the 4th................I was grieving to not read more about Edward and Bella!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, this is sooooo bad, I am ashamed to admit I am "passionate" about this vampire and his human
girlfriend. Seriously, I have never.........NEVER.........read a romance novel before Edward!
But, that is all about to change. Because, I am going to start them all over again..............Yippee!
Rachel has already gone that route and said it was just as good the second time around.
I have also seen the movie two times. Forced my husband to go with me on Valentines night and
saw it again by myself last week. (He actually thought it was good.)
The next movie comes out later this year. But, Twilight, will be out to the public March 20.........
....I already have my copy reserved!!!! Sad small life............. that I lead and love!

My "tied up memories" friend Tracy has tagged me, which means that I must blog about the

This is my picture! These are the first two babies that Coco and Limey produced. They had onlybeen out of the nesting box a few times. These babies are about 6 weeks old.

Their beaks are black when they hatch. Aren't they cute! This was taken in March of 07.

Sunny South

Okay, I am living in the sunny south and taking pictures of big fat snow flakes! What's

wrong with that thought..............for whining out loud, this is the first day of March!!!!!

Don't like it, but, mother nature rules.

My Favorite Kids

I haven't been "blogging" long enough, to have anyone know why I sign my blog's as,
Aunt Debbie.
It's because of three really great kids.
Austin James (my Godson) his older sister Alexandria and his younger sister Madison,
are special enough to me to call them my own, actually, their mom and dad offered to send the older
two home with me, on more than one occasion, when they were growing up!
Austin is getting ready to graduate from college, Alexandria is in her twenties, and after graduating from college, has a great job and is in love. Madison is in high school.
We don't get to spend much time together these days, but, when we talk, these sweeties call me
"Aunt Debbie".

I have to do 2 "potty breaks" to help my friend out today!


Let me explain!

D. and T. have a new puppy "Lexi" and another dog, "Ivie". While D. is working, today, my job is to let the puppy and her older "sister" out for a potty break...............knowing how I have fun at almost everything I do, I took pictures of these darling dogs while I was there!

I am hoping that D. and T. will both be surprised!

Coco and Limey

A few years ago, I decided that I wanted to get
some birds. I didn't know what kind. So, I had to
do some homework and figure it out. After
several bird shows around Atlanta and lots of
info finding.........
I went to a local pet store and was pretty sure
that I had made my choice.
I urged my husband to go and see the babies.
They were about 4 months old at the time and
along with the cage, food, toys, and vitamins,
we took home the addition of two more pets.
Peach faced Lovebirds. The smallest of the parrot family. It was hard to name them,
not knowing if they were girls or boys! Or one of both.
After several days of trying on names........humming the song "put the lime in the coconut"
as I fed and watered them, the decision was made. Coco and Limey.
At about a year, I came home one day to find that my sweet green and orange baby birds were no longer virgins! The next day there
was an egg laying on the floor of the cage! Time to talk to the John at the pet store again..........
I think I have a girl and boy, what do I do now???
A nesting box with shavings inside and some baby food, that's all?.........not like a jar of strained beans, but, some yellow powder put in a small bowl inside the cage. John said they will eat it and feed it to the babies when they hatch! Yikes, babies!
Now, four years later, over fifteen eggs have hatched and peeped in that nesting box.
As I have learned more about these birds, they are very social, and will hang on the side of the
cage and squawk until you greet them. They love to eat and would gladly share veggies, toast or
pizza with me. We also learned the hard way, as the female matures, she will bite the crap out of
your fingers any time you are dumb enough to put them near her. On the other hand, Coco is a gentle little green bird that cocks his head in understanding when I talk to him.
